The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, a public university under Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and Amendments to Other Acts, as amended (hereinafter the "Higher Education Act"), with registered office at Malostranské náměstí 259/12, 118 00 Prague 1, ID No.: 61384984, hereby informs applicants that, as a school realising accredited academic programmes in the area of higher education, it processes applicant's personal data as a Data Controller in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (general regulation).

The applicant's personal data are processed for the purpose of commencing and securing the course of an admissions proceeding until its end pursuant to Section 48 et seq. of the Higher Education Act, and further for the duration of the document retention period. The storage of documents, as well as the term for retaining the personal data contained within them, are governed by Decree of the Rector No. 3/2016, Filing and Retention Rules of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. The extent of the provided data is set out in Section 50, paragraph 1, of the Higher Education Act. The provision of such data, respectively the filling in of the application by the applicant, is voluntary, although without the provision of these data it is not possible to commence an admissions proceeding with the applicant. Over and above the data required under the Act, the applicant shall also provide a contact e-mail address and telephone number, which serve to facilitate communication.

The applicant shall have the right to access his/her personal data, the right to modify his/her personal data, the right to request that AMU provide an explanation for or eliminate a defective state (e.g. blocking/restricting processing, making corrections and additions to personal data). The right to erasure under the provision of Article 17(3d) of the general directive can only be realised with respect to the contact e-mail address and telephone number. Further, the applicant shall have the right to request that AMU provide compensation for proprietary or non-proprietary harm caused by the processing of personal data, and the right to submit a complaint to the Office for Personal Data Protection.
